Ignore NPP's bandwagon propaganda - Obed

Accra, Nov. 30, GNA - Dr Obed Yao Asamoah, National Chairman of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Tuesday urged voters to ignore the ruling New Patriotic Party's (NPP) bandwagon propaganda through dubious opinion polls.

"The NPP has adopted bandwagon propagandist mechanism through the releasing of dubious statistical poll results allegedly conducted by researchers to demonstrate their strengthen on the ground," Dr Asamoah said.

"These are false statistics only intended to deceive, confuse and woo the electorate, who may want to identify with a winner," he told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra.

He claimed that the NPP's own ground study revealed it had lost the electoral battle to the NDC. "They are on their way out of the Castle hence the adoption of these communist campaign strategies."

Dr Asamoah urged Ghanaians to question the financial base of the NPP's "expensive campaigning in a HIPC country".

"The expenses they are incurring now would be paid by the innocent Ghanaian taxpayer through the payment of cutbacks to officials, execution of shoddy works by Party Loyalist, who would metamorphose as contractors and business executives, should we make the mistake of voting for them," he said.

"Ghana would also experience high rate of corruption, which the government and Party would be incapable of controlling because the people involved would be the alleged financiers and sponsors of the campaign."

He said the best Christmas gift that the electorate could offer Ghana, the troubled West African zone, who are looking to the country, would be to vote massively for Professor John Evans Atta Mills and NDC Parliamentary Candidates on December 7.

The NDC Chairman also urged the electorate to reject the NPP's call for the renewal of its mandate.

"Ghanaians will not be complaining and clamouring for a better government had the NPP's stay in power been truly positive and beneficial."

Dr Asamoah noted that the NDC had demonstrated its ability to manage the affairs of the country better when given the mandate because "it has men of proven competence, who can turn around the fortunes of this nation".
