Salaga citizens in Kumasi supports Saddique

Kumasi, Sept. 7, GNA - Citizens of Salaga resident in the Kumasi Metropolis have commended the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for endorsing the candidature of Mr Abubakar Saddique Boniface as the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Salaga Constituency for Election 2004.

They have, therefore, called on all NPP supporters in Salaga to put the past behind them and come together to form a solid support base to ensure that Mr Boniface, who is also the incumbent independent Member of Parliament (MP), retained the Salaga seat for the NPP.

Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Tuesday to show their support for Mr Boniface, the Organiser of Salaga citizens in Kumasi, Mr Salihu Bo Anami, said the MP had proved to the people that he was capable of leading them to attain speedy socio-economic development in the area.

He said Mr Boniface, who is also the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, had brought a number of developments to the constituency since he won the seat.

He mentioned the construction of a 1.3 billion-cedi tourism receptive centre at Salaga; provision of ambulance and theatre equipment for the Salaga Government Hospital as well as a vocational training centre to give the youth employable skills.

Mr Boniface had also sought for investors to establish shea-butter processing factory at Salaga where a number of the youth in the area had been employed.

Mr Anami said the youth in the area looked at Mr Boniface as a role model and would, therefore, support him to bring the needed development to the area.

He said the NPP could not afford to lose the Salaga seat and, therefore, commended the NEC for taking that bold decision. Mr Anami said the love for Mr Boniface cut across the length and breath of the nation due to his humility and respect for everybody. He congratulated Mr Boniface on his successes in his political career and said the people would continue to support him to campaign and retain the seat for the NPP.
