Tension in Anlo Constituency NDC

Aflao, Aug 30, GNA - A faction of the Anlo Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned that it would resist the "nefarious activities" of their constituency leadership and some traditional rulers with the intent to impose a parliamentary candidate on them.

The faction, which calls itself the "Concerned Citizens of Anlo", cautioned that such an agenda to by-pass a primary to handpick a candidate must be stopped before "it lands the entire constituency in political hot water".

The faction stated in a statement that it abhorred the scheme of the leadership to deny the independent MP for the area, Mr. Victor Gbeho who is still a qualified member of the party, from contesting in the primary.

The faction condemned the refusal of the leadership to give out registration forms to interested candidates as well as their refusal to accept the filings of some candidates on forms the national party headquarters went ahead to give them and cautioned that "a few individuals must not seek to frustrate aspirants".

The group called for respect for democracy and a level playing field for all interested candidates to enable the people of Anlo to follow the one in whom they can safely repose their confidence.
