Incumbent MP wins NPP Ayensuano primaries

Kraboa-Coaltar (E/R), Aug. 1, GNA - Mr Godfred Otchere, Member of Parliament for Ayensuano in the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District, on Wednesday won the NPP primaries to contest the constituency seat on the party's ticket for the third time running. Mr Otchere overwhelmed three other contestants by obtaining 80 out of the total 98 votes cast.

His closest rival Mr Aye Paye, an official of the Accra Metro Transport Service could only manage 11 votes, while Mr C. S. Canthy of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), polled four. The Rev. Addo Lartey, the fourth contestant obtained three votes. In an address, Mr Otchere urged Ghanaians to support the NPP government to win a second term in office to enable it to complete the numerous development projects it had initiated.

Mr Michael Kofi Mensah, District Chief Executive, urged the three other contestants who had lost to team up with Mr Otchere in his campaign to win the seat and to win votes for President Kufuor in the presidential election. The Eastern Regional Chairman of the party Nana Adi Ankamah commended the party executives in the constituency for organising the primaries in a transparent manner. He urged them to work under one umbrella and undertake house-to-house campaigns to win more voters.
