The National Chairman of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Professor Edmund Delle, has described the decision by President Akufo-Addo to involve leaders of the various political parties in certain policy decisions as “quality leadership”.

Prof Delle said it is a good thing to bring all the good people of Ghana onboard to ensure the development of the nation.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo met with leaders of the various political parties in the country on Thursday to seek their views on some governance-enhancing measures his administration intends to take.

The political parties represented by their Chairpersons and General Secretaries included the largest opposition party National Democratic Congress, the governing New Patriotic Party, Convention Peoples Party and Progressive Peoples’ Party (PPP).

The meeting, which was the first between a sitting President and leaders of the political parties in recent years, lasted well over three hours and was held in a good atmosphere, one of frank exchanges and mutual respect.

Issues discussed included the commemoration of the Silver Jubilee of the 4th Republic, on January 7, 2018; the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE); and the creation of new regions, amongst others.

Speaking on the meeting on 3FM’s Sunrise hosted by Winston Amoah on Friday, the CPP Chairman said “it was a wonderful meeting and we should put our heads together and move the nation forward”.

“The [President] means business because he is prepared to open up to all Ghanaians”.

Dr. Delle stressed, “he is a leader and a leader should be like a dust bin. All the rubbish should be thrown at him but he needs to be focused”.
