CPP Big Wigs In Trouble

An Accra High Court, on Tuesday, July 6, granted leave on an ex parte application to begin, on notice, for contempt against certain leading members of the Convention People?s Party (CPP).

They are: Prof Nii Noi Dowuona, General Secretary, Dr Edmund Delle, Chairman& Leader, Balogun, B.K. Senkyire, Akwesi Akoto, Dr Fleicher, Nana Kwasi, Koranteng, Amoa-Awuah and others. The application was filed at the instance of Mr Mike Eghan, 2nd National Chairman of CPP.

Mr Mike Eghan has filed a writ against the defendants/respondents, claiming that the so-called Council of Elders, purported to have been constituted, is unconstitutional, and must be declared as such.

In the writ of summons, Mr Mike Eghan, among other claims, is seeking an order of Injunction to restrain the respondents from putting themselves up as members of the Council of Elders, and meeting in the name of the Council of Elders of CPP, and/or doing anything and styling themselves as member fo the Council of Elders of CPP. Mr Mike Eghan has nominally sued the party, it General Secretary and the National Chairman, as well, claiming that they have done nothing to stop what he describes as ?illegality?.

In the court, on Tuesday morning, his lawyer, Mr Godfred Dame, an Accra legal practitioner, argued that in spite of the writ filed and served on the party and the General Secretary, with application on an interim injunction, the defendants/respondents went ahead, purporting to meet as Council of Elders in Kumasi, on June 10 and 11, to do or meet to transact business in the name of Council of Elders of CPP.
