President appoints new members of Electoral Commission

Accra, Feb. 19, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor has appointed Mrs. Paulina Adobea Dadzawa, an adminstrator, Nana Amba Eyiiba I, Efutuhemaa and Krontihene of Ogua tradtional area and Madam Eunice Akweley Roberts, an Educationist as members of the Electoral Commission.
"The President acted in conformity with the powers conferred on him by Article 70 (1) (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and in consultation with the council of state".
A statement signed by the Mr. Kwabena Agyepong, Press Secretary to the President said the Electoral Commission had been without the full complement of its members for sometime now.
" These appointments by the President are therefore, aimed at filling the vacancies that has been created as a result of the retirement of Mrs. Elizabeth Solomon, Ms. Theresa Cloe and Professor Ernest Dumor as well as the passing away of Dr. Puni".
The statement noted that the other members of the Commission who had already been nominated by the President would be announced after going through the due process.
