National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma South constituency in the Greater Accra region is promising to build a sardine factory at Chorkor, a suburb in the community.

According to Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuye, the initiative is part of efforts to create jobs for constituents should he be elected the Member of Parliament for the area.

Mr. Vanderpuye who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) made the promise during a campaign rally over the weekend.

He indicated that, history will be made when Chorkor, a fishing community in the Ablekuma South constituency begin the production of locally made Sardines.

“I have told you people over and over again that the Chorkor Sardine will be made and produced in Chorkor. The whole of Accra will eat the Chorkor Sardine” he told the cheering crowd.

The Accra Mayor indicated that, majority of the locally made sardines will be exported to generate more revenue for the fishermen.

He also revealed that, a part from millennium schools being built in every town, a vocational institute will be established to decrease unemployment in the society.

“We are not done yet with the construction of the millennium city schools because we will support and create more jobs for the youth by constructing a vocational school in Korle Gonno, to assist them in enhancing their skills in vocation” he stressed.

Okoe Vanderpuye promised of more road construction in the towns if the Mahama-led government is retained in power.

“We are going to connect the old Winneba road to the Chemu lagoon to ensure smooth and quick movement to other neighbouring towns”.
