Communications Director of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Paa Kow Ackon is optimistic that the party will win the case against the Electoral Commission (EC) following the disqualification of Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom from the Presidential Polls in December.

“This is a simple issue, we are very confident we will win the case. Some of us have our white attires ready to celebrate the victory. It is just two days ahead and I believe we will be back in the presidential race,” he said on Accra-based Okay FM.

Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom and 12 others were disqualified from the presidential race after anomalies were cited on their filed nomination forms.

The situation which did not go down well with the party caused them to drag the EC to court.

The PPP is seeking “an order of prohibition to restrain the EC from proceeding with balloting for position of presidential candidates for the 7th December elections.

The plaintiff is also seeking “…a further order directed against the 1st Respondent in her capacity as Returning Officer for Presidential elections to grant the Applicant the opportunity to amend and alter the one anomaly found in his nomination papers as well as accept his nomination papers as amended or altered to enable him contest as a Presidential Candidate for the 7th December 2016 elections.”

Following the filing of oral statements at the courts yesterday, the court set Friday for the judgment.

However, the communications director of the PPP insists their party is very positive and hope to win the suit against EC which will allow them amend and alter the anomalies on their Presidential nomination forms.

“We are confident we will win this Friday; we will make everyone understand that the rule of law is better than the rule of any human being,” he said.
