CID in bed with NDC - Anthony Karbo

The Deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Anthony Abayifa Karbo has accused officials of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of being in bed with members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He claimed the CID is doing the bidding of the NDC, cautioning them to watch the wind of change.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia is a nightmare to the NDC, hence their bid to tarnish his hard earned reputation.

The Electoral Commission (EC) sacked two of its officials who supposedly verified the NPP’s Presidential Candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia outside the designated polling center close to his house during the exhibition exercise.

Though the EC has vindicated him of the accusations, the CID is investigating the matter.

Speaking on Ultimate breakfast show hosted by Lantam Papanko, Karbo wondered why the CID will do the dictates of NDC.

The Deputy Communications Director indicated that Dr. Bawumia joined a queue to verify his name.

He further asked the issues been investigated, saying Dr. Bawumia did not breach any criminal code.

‘This shows how desperately the NDC is getting, they are losing the election, we are setting the pace for them, they know that this election is a rap up for them, their time is up, and that they will do anything under the sun to destroy and this is exactly what they are doing because the EC has absolved Dr. Bawumia of any criminalities so the question we are asking is what is the CID investigating. Simply because the NDC has made a report to the CID, the CID doesn’t find it necessary to investigate in Walewale, they jumped Tamale, Kumasi and bring it all the way to Accra, national CID office for investigation, was the CID office in Walewale,’ he explained.

He described actions by the NDC members as political witch-hunting.

‘If you have a CID setting up to anything that the NDC will say is gospel, even when there is no case, they are still very determined to go ahead,’ he claimed.

He wondered why the CID is not investigating other people who were in the queue with Dr. Bawumia.

‘Why are they picking Dr. Bawumia, is it because he is an NPP member, or because he is a nightmare for NDC, the CID found a reason to investigate him, simply because the NDC say so, we must ensure that our institutions live up to partisan politics,’ he fumed.
