NPP recruits agents to monitor voter exhibition exercise

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has begun recruiting agents in preparation towards the upcoming voter exhibition exercise.

In a memo dated July 5, 2016, signed by the Acting General Secretary of the party, John Boadu and circulated to the all Regional Chairmen with copies to Regional Secretaries, Organisers, and Research Officers, the party directed that a person to be selected as agent must be;

Loyal to the party: Not willing to betray the party under any circumstances including monetary inducement;

Resident in the Polling Station Area: Preferably the person’s name must in that Polling Station Register where he/she is to be assigned to;

Literate: Can read, write and understand quickly;

Ability to speak local dialect: Should be preferably multilingual;

Non bribable: Will not take money, positions/jobs, other materials in exchange for their loyalty to the party;

Bold: Willing to stand up in the face of intimidation and challenge others even if alone;

Health: Physically fit to stand and work for the whole day (e.g. 6am-11pm).

Committed to work: Ready to devote time, interest, zeal and passion.

The party further directed its regional officers to furnish the National Elections Directorate with the list of the selected agents.

It however, urged the party officers to give “optimum attention” to the exercise since it is directly related to the final compilation of the Voters’ Register.

The recruitment exercise which begun on July 7th, 2016 is expected to end on July 12th, 2016.

The Electoral Commission would from July 18th to August 7th, 2016, undertake an exhibition Exercise on the National Voters Register at all polling stations across the country.
