I won’t waste my time on MFWA’s hypocrisy – Yamin

Joseph Yamin, deputy NADMO coordinator Joseph Yamin, deputy NADMO coordinator

Deputy Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Joseph Yamin has rubbished his inclusion in the latest language monitoring report by Media Foundation for West Africa that captured seven persons who were named as top users of abusive language.

Deputy Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Joseph Yamin, Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, a communication member of the same party, Mr Hopeson Adorye topped the list of politicians who used abusive language on radio.

The trio topped the latest Media Foundation for West Africa language monitoring report in which seven persons were named as top users of abusive language on the airwaves.

The latest report is based on monitoring of 972 programmes on 40 radio stations across the country for the period of May 16-31, 2016. In all, 58 indecent expressions were recorded on 17 out of the 40 radio stations monitored.

On top of the list of users of abusive language during the reporting period is Hopeson Adoye, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team with a total of six indecent expressions. Sharing the second spot in this unenviable list of users of abusive campaign language are, Charles Owusu, a member of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) communication team and the NDC’s Joseph Yamin who is former Deputy Minister and now Deputy National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO). They used four indecent expressions each, according to the report.

But Yamin insists it was hypocritical for the MFWA to include him in the league of top users of abusive language based on a reaction he’d made in the issues under consideration, adding that he was rated unfairly in the said report.

“I don’t see why I should argue with MFWA on this but how do you rate a reaction I made to somebody else’s statement. The statement you’re attributing to me is a reaction I made to Wontumi’s foul statement issued sometime back. Wontumi made a categorical statement that he will order thugs to beat NDC supporters at polling stations which I reacted accordingly. So why didn’t MFWA include Wontumi but rather you chose to add me in their supposed list. What kind of hypocrisy is that, and who are the MFWA who pays them and what is their motive? If they really want to do something good for the people for this country they should fairly assessed the issues well and come clean,” Yamin told Kasapa 102.5 FM.
