NDC kicks against tribal politics

The Grassroot Supporters Front of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has kicked against negative political approach such as tribal politics in the Korle Klottey constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

Addressing a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, Mr Dela Coffie, a convener of the group, bemoaned the situation where Dr Ezanator Rawlings, an NDC Parliamentary Aspirant in the Korle Klottey constituency, had been a victim of tribal politics from her opponents.

“For what is glaringly evident, as the NDC primaries draw closer and can be followed in the media about Dr Ezenetor, the people’s candidate, there has been an infusion of ethnic tribal political intrigues and some fabrications to undermine her candidature,” he said.

Mr Coffie said the NDC is a broad based political entity that knows no boundaries on tribal grounds and the alleged ethnocentrism being perpetuated at Korle Klottey is alien to it.

He said tribal tension in any political party could create violent divisions and urged the perpetrators to stop.

He disclosed that Dr Ezenator is a full card bearing member of the NDC, born and raised at Ridge and Osu and would not be part of politics pelted and fuelled by tribalism and character assassination.

He also denied the allegations that Dr Ezenator supported her mother, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, during the formation of the National Democratic Party in 2012, adding that, she openly stood against her mother, when she decided to contest the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

“We will like to state that Dr Ezenator is in the contest to win the primaries and parliamentary election, to help the NDC to victory in 2016 and her message to all NDC members is to shun politics of insults and defamation, but stick with issues that will strengthen the party to victory,” he said.
