I will transform Klefe’s local economy - Aspirant

Mr Ransford Delali Kasu, a former Assemblyman for Klefe Electoral Area, on Tuesday appealed to the electorate to renew his mandate for the “diversification” of the community’s local economy.

He said having completed educational infrastructure for schools in the farming community, he is poised to revive cocoa farming in the area to empower the locals financially.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Kasu said young people in the community could no longer rely solely on the mining of precious stones at the foot of Kabakaba Hill, and needed to go into the cultivation of cash crops.

“Our grandparents did cocoa farming here and we must go back to that root and not the stone mining, which is destroying our environment. Cocoa is the game changer and I will revive all cocoa farms,” he said.

Mr Kasu said farmers in the communities are receiving capacity building on the cultivation of cocoa and expressed the hope that the cultivation of the cash crop would enhance the living conditions of the locals.

He said he remains committed to promote quality teaching and learning in schools in the community and is developing a plan to increase contact hours in schools in the area.

Mr Kasu said he is also working on motivation packages for teachers and parents for their efforts at promoting academic excellence in Klefe, and called on the electorates to vote for him massively in the impending District Level Elections in September.
