CPP congratulates President elect Buhari

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) sends a congratulatory message to the people of Nigeria for holding a largely peaceful and successful elections and for their bold fight against corruption. This is hugely significant and very positive for Africa and Africans everywhere.

It is significant to note that the win by the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the first time that an incumbent Government has been defeated in an election in Nigeria. An act that strengthens Nigeria’s democracy to the benefit of all Nigerians.

We congratulate President Elect Muhammadu Buhari for his victory.

The CPP notes that the APC is a merger of progressives in Nigeria with affiliation to Socialist International.

We applaud the APC’s commitment to tackle what it called “thriving chaos,” corruption, impunity, injustice and the exploitation of ethnicity.

The malaise that the APC notes in Nigeria and the inability to use Nigeria’s wealth to transform the lot of all Nigerians mirrors the Ghanaian situation throughout the Fourth Republican rule of NDC or NPP.

We wish President Elect Muhammadu Buhari and his incoming APC Government well with their new agenda for the Nigerian Economy and Job Creation, Agriculture, Food Security and Industrialization, National Security and Social Harmony, Infrastructure Development, Education, Healthcare and the Empowerment of Women.

Nigerians have opted for radical change in their country and a new future for Nigeria. Similar boldness is needed in our politics to deliver CPP Government and a New Future for Ghana.
