NDC vets Stephen Akwetey

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday vetted Mr Stephen Akwetey, an aspiring Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party.

According to Mr Akwetey, the vetting which lasted just a little over 10 minutes was very cordial and friendly.

He expressed the hope to be among the shortlisted candidates to contest for the chairmanship position.

He said the 2016 elections would be keenly contested between the ruling NDC and the main opposition New Patriotic Party, especially in the Greater Accra Region and it is imperative that the NDC gets a chairman who is selfless and dedicated.

“This is what I bring to the party and as a member of the cadre group, my loyalty to the NDC is unquestionable and I am very dedicated to the cause of the party,” he said.

He said if given the nod, the right strategies would be put in place to ensure that the NDC would not only win massively in the presidential election in 2016 but would also win majority of the parliamentary seats.

Mr Akwetey said apart from maintaining the party in power, various entrepreneurial ventures would be championed in the region to create job opportunities for the youth.

He urged the delegates not to allow themselves to be bought by candidates who merely distributes items to spite them, saying that they should elect candidates based on realistic offer that has a long lasting effect on their livelihood and economic impact.
