NDC Zongo Caucus urged to remain focused - National Secretary

Alhaji Alhassan Bene, National Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Zongo Caucus has urged members of the caucus to remain focused and continue to support the activities of the party.

He said despite the cries and complaints of hardships by the opposition New Patriotic Party, the Government of the NDC under President John Dramani Mahama was carrying out developmental projects across the country.

Alhaji Bene gave the advice at the inauguration of the North Okaikwei Constituency Executives of the NDC Zongo Caucus at the weekend in Accra.

The inauguration is to prepare the Zongo Caucus towards its national executive election and plan towards winning votes for the NDC in the 2016 general election.

The executives are, Mr. Ibrahim Yakubu and Mr. Mohammed Awal, Constituency Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator, Khamil Yussif and Emelia Banasco, Secretary and Deputy Secretary, Suley Gariba and Hausatu Yakubu, Organizer and Deputy Organizer, Lardi Umar, Treasurer and Baraka Debonso, Deputy Treasurer.

Others are Azumi Sulemana, Women's Organizer (Magajiya), Mariam Issah, First Magaajiya, Adiza Abdul Karim, Second Magaajiya, Abdul Manan, Youth Organiser, Alhaji Aubakar Mohammed, Deputy Youth Organiser, Almino Darbo, Information Officer, Sulemana Yussif, Deputy Information Officer and Hajia Ayisha Suley, Alhaji Munkaila and Habiba Amadu, all Committee Members.

Alhaji Bene said the NDC has awarded scholarship to a cross session of students from Zongo communities in the country.

Adding that educational infrastructure, health and some social interventions such as the Local Enterprise Skills Development Programme and the Youth in Driving were initiated to reduce the burden of the people living in the Zongo communities.

He appealed to the people in the Zongos to continue to contribute their quota to the country’s development and called on them not to turn their backs on the NDC, adding, “The NDC is the party of the Zongo Community.”

Hajia Mariam Sinare, Deputy National Women’s Organizer of the NDC said the NDC is the party of choice and members of the party must work hard to maintain the love Ghanaians have for it.

She said the party since 2009 had improved the living conditions and up-lifted the standard of Ghanaians distinctively.

Alhaji Mohammed Aska, Greater Accra Regional Coordinator of the Zongo Caucus said President Mahama was a real son of the Zongo community and that his focused to develop the Zongos across the country was in progress.

He said President Mahama announced that part of a $100 million fund sourced from Dubai would be channelled for the development of Zongo communities to improve educational infrastructure, basic social amenities such as basic water, sanitation and health.

Alhaji Mustapha Abubakar, a member of the NDC and Chairman of the inaugurational caucus, said Ghana is experiencing rapid development under the NDC and appealed to Ghanaians to rally behind President Mahama to make it possible.

He appealed to supporters of the NDC to stay away from statements that has the tendency to destroy the party’s chances of winning the 2016 general election.

Present at the inauguration were Alhaji Yussif Captain, National Coordinator of the Caucus, Alhaji S.M Alhassan and Alhaji Ismael Bawa, both National Executive members and members of the Zongo Caucus.
