GAKE Coordinator accuse Akufo-Addo’s men of assault

Factionalism in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) nearly reached a violent point when some members of the Get Alan Kyerematen Elected (GAKE) are alleged to have escaped assault by fellow party members who have vowed to beat up anyone seeking to advance the course of the Alan group.

Narrating the incident on NEAT FM, Yaw Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Coordinator of GAKE told Adakabre Frimpong Manso that, walking out of the studios of Kumasi-based Otek FM with fellow GAKE members who had finished a political debate on who is in the best position to lead the NPP into the next general elections, they were met and assaulted by a group of women led by a popular NPP supporter, ‘Maame China’.

“…they asked why we went to speak for Alan Keyermaten and threatened to beat us up. We avoided confrontation with them and walked on but upon reaching the gates of Otek FM, we met macho men at the gate. They tried pouncing on us, but security men at the station’s gate restrained them and helped us to escape,” Yaw Antwi Boasiako said.

In an interview with C. J. Louis, a Producer at Otek FM, he confirmed the claims of Yaw Antwi Boasiako.

He further alleged that one Alhaji Kumasi, a well known NPP member, threatened to burn down any radio station that would allow its platform to be used to denigrate the 2008 and 2012 presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Meanwhile, Yaw Antwi Boasiako appealed to members of GAKE to be calm in the face of these persecutions and boldly project the virtues, values and competencies of Alan Kyerematen.
