Hot race for NDC National Youth Organizer post

Even before the National Democratic Congress (NDC) officially gives the green- light for people to contest for positions in the party, signals picked by this paper from influence peddlers in the party indicate that those who are interested in contesting the position of the National Youth Organizer have moved into political gyms and are lifting heavy weights to strategize for the big do.

This paper can report that baring any last minute change of mind or strategy, the incumbent National Youth Organizer of the party, Ludwig Akpene Hlordze, would be slugging it out with the ‘rising hope for the youth’ campaigner, Sidii Abubakar Musa, loud- mouthed Sam George, Paa Kwesi Brew-Yalley an accomplished entrepreneur, and one Wonder Madilo.

The paper has gathered that the Congress which is likely to come off in December, will be one of the fiercely contested in the party. Indications, however, are clear that the contest might be a straight fight between Paa Kwesi Brew-Yalley and Sidii Abubakar Musa.

Hlordze Ludwig would be voted out because according to insiders, he aligned himself too much to the presidency under the late President John Evans Mills at the expense of the suffering youth. “He was always glued to the presidency without doing anything. Because of people like him, we were seen by many as a non- performing government. He was not communicating to anybody on any actions by the government and was always at the presidency. When we vote for such a person again, what is the guarantee that this time he will take care of us”, an angry NDC youth told this paper in our quest to find out the chances of all the potential contestants.

Sam George will also be punished by the youth for his altercation with one of late President Mills’ darling boys, Koku Anyidoho. Apart from his perceived arrogance and disrespectful nature, the former Castle boy may not be needed anymore for hatchet jobs. However, his communication prowess is admired by many NDC supporters and his critics as well.

In fact, on 7 June 2012, one newspaper labeled Sam George as an NPP secret agent. “According to this paper’s insider sources, Samuel George Nettey was not just an ordinary National Service person in the former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s office, but a secret agent of the NPP”, the ‘Informer’ reported.

The paper continued that “A former co-worker, Manaf Ibrahim, who The Informer said it was in-touch with, expressed shock at Samuel George’s denial of his involvement in the activities of the NPP at that top most level”.

Very little is however known about Wonder Madilo for now, except that he was a student of GIMPA, and was also president of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS). He won that NUGS Presidency contest with only eight votes, separating him from his main contender, Anthony Abotsi Afriyie, this paper learnt.

The contest promises to be a straight-fight between Paa Kwesi Brew-Yalley and Sidii Abubakar Musa because, it would be recalled that at the end of the contest that saw Ludwig emerge winner, Sidii came second whilst Paa Kwesi Brew-Yalley was third.
