MASSIVE YOUTH PEACE RALLY FOR MAHAMA
-At Kaokudi, Accra

Thousands upon thousands of pro-Mahama groups descended on the Nima Kawukudi Park for one of the biggest youth rallies ever seen in the Ghanaian capital.
It was the first time that all the key supporting groups with their own unique ways of campaigning have joined ranks to promote the Presidential candidate of the NDC.
The vociferous youth joined long standing party faithful, first time voters, independent student groups, floating voters, and admirers of John Mahama who thronged the rally.
The Movement for Mahama which came into being on the 25th of July 2012 ; a day after President Mahama was sworn into office, has been campaigning behind the scenes on the quiet. It was officially launched on Tuesday 23rd October and is made up of professionals from different backgrounds and skills employing dynamic strategies to mobilize resources to campaign independently for President Mahama.
The pull and attraction of the Movement cannot be denied as household names like comedian Mr. Beautiful, actress Juliet Ibrahim, popular radio and tv personality Abeiku Santana and former VIP lead singer Friction, all mounted the podium to show their support for the NDC presidential candidate.
The atmosphere was akin a carnival as political personalities took turns to move the crowd including the former Minister of Information Mrs. Zita Okaikoi, the NDC aspiring MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon Kwame Awuah Darko and Dr. Mustapha Ahmed - Mp for Ablekuma East.
Delivering powerful speeches on the track record of the President were Akyena Brentuo from the John Mahama Campaign Team, Nasir Mahama Toure NDC Ayawaso East Parliamentary Candidate and a host of others.

The convener of Movement for Mahama, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah who recently quit his media job at TV3 to campaign on the theme of peace said it is important to encourage the youth to actively and positively contribute to the democratic process.
'' The overwhelming show of love and endorsement for President Mahama cannot be bought with all the money in Ghana''.
Ampofo Ankrah added, ''These are young men and women want to do something good for their nation and believe that the man to lead them is John Mahama''
In what was one of the most vibrant and diverse gatherings ever witnessed in sprawling Nima, speaker after speaker called on the youth to be ambassadors and champions of peace for life and not just during the election campaign season.
The mammoth rally which was organised by the Movement for Mahama brought together all the recognised pro Mahama groups in Ghana including Volunteers for Mahama, Youth for Mahama, Zongos for Mahama, Young Democrats and Grassroots for Mahama.
Other pro Mahama campaigners at the rally were the Supreme NDC Task force, Ladies for Mahama, Students for Mahama, Friends of Mahama and Pray for Mahama.
A key member of the Movement and long standing NDC member Nana Kwaku Agyemang said he was humbled by the overwhelming show of support and called on the youth to translate the passion and energy into votes come December 7th.
''It is now obvious that none of us here needed to be bribed to do what we believe is the right thing. It is a big joke and cheap politics for anyone to suggest that. We are completely and totally focused on delivering the message of a better Ghana for all under President Mahama''.
The biggest cheers were reserved for radio presenter Abeiku Santana who educated the crowd on the practical, attainable and well planned education policies of the NDC. He also made a passionate appeal to the youth on the need for tolerance and respect in order to keep the hard earned peace in the country''
Spokesperson for the Movement, James Afedo, has assured that a full tour schedule will be unveiled alongside the ongoing community to community campaign strategy.

-Free SHS will put more money into parents' pockets for offerings, tithes

The Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has reiterated that the successful implementation of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) free Senior High School education policy will help parents have more disposal income to give church offerings and tithes.

In what is a clear reaction to the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil’s assertion that education can never be free, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko wrote on his Facebook wall on Monday that, “Free secondary education means parents have more disposable income to spend on the family and other important things, including church offerings and tithes.”

Pastor Mensa Otabil said in a sermon that, “Free education can never be free, somebody is paying for it, tell me who is paying for it…..nothing is free. You are paying for it only that you are being told you didn’t pay for it. How do you pay for it, through taxation...So I pay tax and you tell me you are giving me free education when it's my tax that is paying for it.”

"The other thing is, if somebody tells you something is free ask them what is the quality; anything free without control, when it is bad you can’t complain. If you don’t know the quality, don’t take it,” he posited.

The Chancellor of the Central University College’s remarks has drawn sharp reactions from the opposition NPP with the party’s Director of Communications, Nana Akomea telling Joy News the party “respects the views of Pastor Otabil but disagree with it.”

He argued that just as the government pays for the construction of roads and other infrastructure; pays doctors and security personnel all from taxes collected from Ghanaians, the NPP government under Nana Akufo-Addo will pay for the implementation of the Free SHS with the same taxes.
