Ningo-Prampram Assembly Members Confirm DCE

Members of the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly on Monday confirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s nominee, Mr. Richson Nii Teye Appeynard as the District Chief Executive for the Ningo-Prampram District, one of the newly created district assemblies by the NDC government to help accelerate development.

The Nominee who has been an assembly member for some years now in the newly created district polled 32 out of 32 votes, which represented 100 % confirmation by the assembly members of the district throwing a bigger challenge to other districts to emulate.

Mr. Appeynard said though no district in the country had achieved economic independence, Ningo-Prampram Assembly is on the verge of breaking that situation and called on the entire residents of the district rally behind him for massive development in the area to better the lives of the ordinary people.

He said: "We need to employ scientific methods to enhance our revenue generation. We need to exploit all the human and material resources that abound in the district, ensure transparency, fairness, accountability and good governance."

The New DCE said they needed to motivate the members, officers and workers of the district assembly and attract investors to the area to partner in the development of the area and tasked all and sundry to ensure peace and unity and not to be used as channels through which disgruntled persons would create disaffection and disunity.

“I hope this love, confident and trust given to me today will be the rallying point for your support so we can all fight the common enemy that plaque’s our people, who we have elected or appointed to serve, the lack of social infrastructure for our people. We must be determined to not to win this war only but to win peace as well.

But the problem of peace cannot be solved by one person in isolation and that is why we need peace and tranquility; for without peace there can be on development”, the newly sworn in DCE admonished his people.

He pledged not to let the President down in the implementation of policies and programmes of government to improve the livelihood of the people under the Better Ghana agenda to help alleviate the poverty level among Ghanaians.

Mr. Appeynard said the quest for development would not come in a silver platter if the people did not complement government’s efforts and also give peace a chance to sustain the process.

The Shai-Osudoku DCE, Hon O.A Emmanuel who represented the Greater Accra Regional Minister, HonJoseph Nii Afortey Agbo urged the new DCE to serve as a unifying force to ensure that development was carried out without any rancour and bitterness.

He therefore encouraged stakeholders in the district to bury their political differences and partner with him to help bring development to the area to meet the needs and aspirations of the people.

He appealed to the political parties and their supporters to conduct their campaigns with civility in order not to jeopardise the peace of the area.

He advised members of the assembly to put political colours aside and unite for the development of the district. He said government would not relent in its efforts to develop the district to enhance the living conditions of the people.
