Mrs. Akufo- Addo Promises Her Husband Will Tackle Problems in Ningo

Rebecca Akufo- Addo, the wife of the NPP’s presidential candidate told the people of Ningo that she laments that the NDC government has shown no interest in their welfare even though the people of the traditional area have voted for the NDC for years.

She was speaking as special guest at a packed durbar to end the Homowo festival held at the D/A junior high school park in Old Ningo. Mrs. Akufo-Addo’s late mother came from the area and the crowd and traditional leaders warmly received her as their daughter.

The acting president of the Ningo Traditional Council and Mankralo, Nene Kanor Atiapah III, outlined how the people have been neglected.

He cited the lack of water supplies in Ningo Township, the lack of dormitories at the senior high school, the deplorable conditions at the police station and the how the current construction of the Ningo – Tsopoli road is too narrow for heavy vehicles, such as emergency ambulances.

He also repeated his call for the government to give district status to Great Ningo and resolve the boundary issues between the traditional areas of Ningo and Prampram.

He expressed his gratitude that Mrs. Akufo- Addo and NPP executives had come to listen to the people’s concerns and noted the non-attendance of the Regional Minister and District Chief Executive, who had also been invited to the event.

There was loud applause when Mrs. Akufo Addo told the crowd that when ‘by God’s grace and your support’ my husband is voted into power he is determined to ‘tackle head on’ the kinds of problems that hold back Ningo’s development.
