Court orders PNC to pay GH?2,335.44

A Fiapre circuit court has ordered the People’s National Convention (PNC) to pay Madam Beatrice Owusu Afriyie, a caterer GHc2,335.44 being the cost and interest on meals provided for 500 delegates during its National Delegates Congress held in Sunyani, last February 5.

This is made up of judgment debt of GH?1,778.00, interest from February to August, 2012, GHC207.44 and a cost award of GH?350.00.

This was after the Presiding Judge, Mr. Benjamin Osei Yaw had entered judgment against the defendants, Mr. Ampofo Isaac Otchere, National Public Relations Officer (PRO) and the PNC for non-payment of food served during the congress.

A writ filed by Mr. Eric Boamah of Asempa Chambers in Sunyani, solicitor for the plaintiff on July 12, this year, said on February 5, this year the first defendant engaged the plaintiff to prepare varieties of meals on credit for 500 delegates.

It said the plaintiff was informed that the first defendant would settle the bills after the congress, but attempts to retrieve the money and efforts to persuade the Brong Ahafo Regional Secretariat of the Party to settle the bills proved futile.
