Eva Lokko Appeals To Zongo Chiefs For Support

The vice presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Eva Lokko has impressed upon Chiefs in the Zongo Communities in the Ablekuma Central Constituency of the Greater Accra Region to endorse the party to ensure victory in the December polls.
Madam Lokko made this appeal when she led a delegation to call on the two Zongo Chiefs at Sarbon Zongo, a suburb of Accra after her selection as running mate to partner Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom for the 2012 general elections.
The visit was to officially introduce the party to the Chiefs of the area and to importune them for their support for victory in the 2012 elections. The occasion was also used to introduce the running mate and the parliamentary aspirant to the chiefs and their elders.
In her opening remarks, Eva Lokko indicated that the Ablekuma Central Constituency happened to be her first point of call after she was officially introduced on Wednesday, 12th September at a colourful durbar at Osu in Accra.
Madam Lokko reminisced her childhood days at the Zongo community where she used to visit her Aunty on weekends and assured the chiefs of her commitment to pick up the pace of progress in the Zongo Communities if given the mandate.
She challenged the Chiefs to give PPP the opportunity to implement the Four-pillars and Ten-point agenda of transformation by voting massively for Dr Nduom and the Parliamentary aspirant for Ablekuma Central, Ishmael Kabore.
‘‘A government under the PPP, would ensure abundance of jobs for the unemployed youth, and improve the sanitation, education and healthcare conditions in the country by offering a competent and incorruptible leadership’’, she said.
On their part, the two chiefs in Sarbon Zongo, Yahyah Hamisu Darko and Alhaji Suley Darko assured the PPP vice presidential candidate and her team of their support, adding that the credentials, vision and competence of the PPP leadership are not moot.
They recounted the days of Eva Lokko as Director-General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and the reforms Dr Nduom instituted as Minister of Public Sector Reforms, Energy, Economic Planning and Regional integration which has incalculably impacted the progress of this country.
The running mate together with her team later inaugurated 21 polling station executives at five different polling stations within the constituency.
