La-Nkwantanang deserves a Municipality -Alhaji Sorogho

Alhaji Amadu Sorogho, Member of Parliament for Madina/ Abokobi in the Greater Accra Region, has called on his constituents to embrace the newly created La-Nkwantanang/Madina Municipal Assembly to facilitate development.

He said the creation of the Municipality was in fulfillment of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto and President John Evans Atta Mills’s campaign promise.

Alhaji Sorogho was addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the La-Nkwantanang /Madina Municipal Assembly at Madina in Accra.

He said La-Nkwantanang/Madina was one of the big areas which deserve a Municipality for a long time.

Alhaji Sorogho said President Mills assured the people that the Municipality was going to experience more development under his administration.

He called on the people to support the president in his bid to be re-elected for a second term.

He noted that the Legislative Review Task Force which was set up to consolidate the District Assembly Common Fund Act, Local Government Service Act, National Development Planning (System) Act and the Internal Audit Agency Act into one Local Government Bill, was in the right direction.

Alhaji Sorogho said a lot had been achieved in the local government and decentralisation sector and yet a lot more remained to be done.

“The unfinished business required that there should be continuity of policies, programmes and projects that would guide us as we move into the era of the six government of the Fourth Republic.”**
