KNUST lecturer exposed

The Political Science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah
University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Mr. Kwesi Amakye, who a couple of
days ago told Citi News that he “… will
have great difficulty if people go ahead and vote for President Mills …” in
this year's election, calling on Ghanaians to instead vote for Nana Akufo-Addo,
has been stripped naked as an imposter!
For almost four years, this lecturer has held
himself up as an independent political commentator as a result of which he
became the 'resident' political commentator of two Accra-based radio stations,
Citi FM and Joy FM.
Often, it is to him these two radio stations turned
to particularly during their respective major news broadcast in the evenings ,
Eyewitness News and News Night respectively when they want a non-partisan or
independent view on a partisan political issue.
For the most part, he managed to hide his political
bias though many discerning Ghanaians saw through his comments and were able to
tell that he was often bias in favour of the NPP.
However, the adage that “…a man's true character is
like pregnancy; it can't be hidden forever” caught up with this so-called
independent political commentator on Tuesday when in one of his usual interview
with Citi news, his true colours came to the fore. Hear him;
“I will have great difficulty if people go ahead and
vote for President Mills, if the only alternative is Nana Addo then that should
be it”.
According to him, President Mills has failed
Ghanaians in tackling corruption and thus does not deserve a second term in
office. He strangely cited the corruption issue involving Hon. Muntaka which
CHRAJ had cleared him of and the judgement debt won by Mr. Alfred Woyome
recently as cases of corruption President Mills has failed to tackle. He also
claimed that another reason that he does not think President Mills deserves a
second term is what he claims to be the President's inability to stop the
politics of insults.
A very quick dash into the archives by the Daily
Post and other political activists finally fished out the smoking gun that
proved that Kwesi Amakye has been an imposter all these while. A GNA news item
on Thursday, April 19, 2001 indicated
that he was an NPP activist.
Indeed, according to the news item, until Wednesday,
April 18, Kwesi Amakye had been an activist of the NDC and was in fact, its
parliamentary candidate for Effiduase-Asokore constituency in the previous

Mr
Kwasi Amakye Boateng, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary
candidate for Effiduase-Asokore constituency in last year's elections, has
defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Addressing
a news conference at Asokore on Wednesday at which he announced his defection,
Mr. Amakye Boateng said he had realised that the NPP government has something
good to offer the nation.
He
described the NDC as a party without vision and its personalities as
untouchables and people without commitment.
Mr
Charles Agyekum, NDC campaign manager for the constituency, who also defected
to the NPP, said he did so because the NDC has not been well organised after
its defeat in the last general elections and therefore has no future.
Mr
George Kwasi Marfo, branch chairman of the NPP, advised the defectors to be
loyal and honest to the NPP.
Mr
Prince Frimpong-Ampomah, vice-chairman of the NPP, said the party has put
behind it problems that cropped up as a result of the electioneering campaign
towards the last general elections.”
Mr. Kwesi Amakye must be a very clever and smart man
to have fooled many Ghanaians all these years, holding himself up as an
independent political commentator. The elephant blood that flows in his vein,
however, had a better part of him last Tuesday, compelling him to show his true
political colours. Some political watchers believe that Ghana is the better for
it; it is one more imposter gotten ridden of in Ghana's political discourse
