Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Percival Kofi Akpaloo, has confirmed that the party will contest Ghana’s 2028 general election, insisting that its political ambitions extend beyond immediate electoral success.
Speaking in an interview broadcast by Oyerepa Radio, Akpaloo said the LPG was established as a political party with a long-term vision and would remain active regardless of its performance in future elections.
“We will contest for the 2028 election. The party will be there till God comes,” he stated.
According to the LPG leader, the party recognises that it may not win elections immediately but remains committed to building its political presence and promoting its ideas to the Ghanaian electorate.
“The party and leader know that we might not win elections any moment from now, but we set it up as a political party,” he said.
Akpaloo said the party’s electoral prospects would ultimately depend on whether Ghanaians accept its political ideology and goals and decide to give it their mandate.
He identified economic improvement and reducing the financial burden on citizens as objectives the party would pursue if given the opportunity to govern.
“If Ghanaians finally accept my ideologies and goals, like making sure there is enough money in the country, and Ghanaians vote for us, we will make sure this works so as Ghanaians’ burden will be lightened,” he explained.
Akpaloo maintained that the decision ultimately rests with voters and urged Ghanaians to consider the LPG’s agenda when making their political choices.
“It all depends on Ghanaians to buy into our agenda,” he said.
