A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communication Team, Emmanuel Kwamena Anyimah, has called on the party to consider the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, for either the presidential candidate or running mate slot ahead of the next general election.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s late afternoon show, Ekosii Sen, hosted by Osei Bonsu (OB) on Monday, October 19, 2026, Anyimah, popularly known as Ellembelle KK, said it was time for the Western Region to produce either the party’s flagbearer or running mate.

He said the Western Region had remained loyal to the NDC since the inception of the Fourth Republic, consistently delivering votes for the party.

He argued that it was therefore time for the party to reward the region by considering one of its own for a top leadership position, adding that Armah-Kofi Buah was well suited for the role.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Support Services) of the Minerals Commission described Armah-Kofi Buah as an embodiment of excellence, a champion of development and a symbol of unity whose visionary leadership had earned him a place in discussions about Ghana’s future presidency.

He said Armah-Kofi Buah commanded respect across the political divide, describing him as a unifier, a consensus builder and a leader whose character transcended partisan lines.

Anyimah also praised Armah-Kofi Buah’s performance as Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, saying he had introduced several reforms and been at the forefront of efforts to combat illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

According to him, Armah-Kofi Buah’s performance at the ministry, coupled with his long-standing service as Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and his experience in governance, made him qualified to lead both the NDC and the country.

He expressed hope that the Ellembelle MP would follow in the historic footsteps of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and become another president of Ghana from the Western Region.
