Lead counsel for former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene, Samuel Atta Akyea, says he has about 60 more questions to ask the fourth prosecution witness when the trial resumes.

The Accra High Court on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, granted the defence an additional day to complete the cross-examination of Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) investigator Frank Marshall Cromwell.

Speaking after proceeding, he welcomed the decision, saying it was necessary to ensure that all relevant areas of the witness’s testimony were properly covered.

“Very much so, because it is not right to truncate cross-examination when some areas have not been covered,” Atta Akyea said.

According to him, there were still “residual but consequential” areas that the defence needed to address before concluding its questioning.

The court has given the defence three hours to complete the cross-examination when proceedings resume on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Atta Akyea said he was confident of meeting the deadline, indicating that his team would streamline its questions to focus on the most important issues.

“Tonight we're going to trim our questions to make it very poignant and economical for purposes of concluding tomorrow,” he indicated.

He disclosed that although he had about 60 questions remaining, he expected to reduce them to approximately 40 to enable him to conclude within the three-hour timeframe.

The fourth prosecution witness, Frank Marshall Cromwell, has been testifying about the investigation into alleged financial wrongdoing involving Adu-Boahene and three other accused persons.

The prosecution alleges that GH¢49.1 million in public funds linked to a cybersecurity procurement arrangement was unlawfully diverted. The accused persons have denied the charges.

The case has been adjourned to September 2, 2026, for the continuation and conclusion of the cross-examination.
