The Member of Parliament for Tano North, Dr Gideon Boako, has accused the NDC government of depriving Ghanaians of infrastructure development in an effort to maintain favourable economic indicators.

According to him, the government has cancelled about 1,800 infrastructure projects as part of efforts to reduce public expenditure.

The MP described the decision as worrying, saying it was depriving the country of critical development projects and employment opportunities.

He made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Dr Cash on OTEC FM’s Afternoon Political Show Dwabrem on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

“Not that these 1,800 projects are not important. However, the government says it does not want to spend money because it is targeting a positive primary balance,” he stated.

Dr Boako said the affected projects included roads, school blocks, feeder roads, student hostels, hospitals and markets.

“Some of the projects include roads, school blocks, feeder roads, hostels for students, hospitals, markets, among others,” he added.

He argued that the projects could have created hundreds of jobs for young people if they had been implemented.

“All these projects could have created hundreds of jobs for the youth, but the government has cancelled all of them,” he said.

Dr Boako further accused the government of worsening the living conditions of Ghanaians through what he described as poor policy decisions.
