Veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr took a swipe at Nana Akomea, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on live TV on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Nana Akomea, who is the chairman of the NPP’s select committee on communications, called into the panel discussion on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana after he was apparently told that Kwesi Pratt was making some disparaging remarks about him on the show.
First, he said that Kwesi Pratt had accused him of "concocting" a message about a recent attack on a constituency vice chairman of the NPP, who reportedly could not stay away from a woman he had been warned against.
It turned out that Pratt did not do what Akomea had alleged.
A co-panellist on the programme, former NPP Member of Parliament for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, indicated that Nana Akomea had been misinformed by the person who called him, saying that he would have defended Akomea if indeed Pratt had said something wrong about him.
The NPP select committee chairman then moved on to his second allegation against Pratt, which was that he (Pratt) had misconstrued a comment made by him (Akomea) advising some members of the NPP not to challenge Miracles Aboagye for a certain position in the party.
It also turned out that Pratt had said exactly what Akomea had stated.
Pratt then expressed his displeasure about Akomea’s accusations against him.
“Don’t let people keep calling you to come and make such unnecessary statements on this platform,” he fumed.
However, Nana Akomea insisted that he was going to play back the programme to hear what Pratt had said.
“Nana, you are not a small boy. You have risen to become Minister of Information. You held many important positions in this country. You are one of the key persons in the Bawumia campaign team. Don’t sit at home and make people call you and tell you fairy tales,” he said.
