The National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has announced his readiness to contest for the National Chairmanship of the National Democratic Congress, contingent on the decision of incumbent chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
Vanderpuye explained that his ambition follows wide-ranging consultations with party faithful and key stakeholders, as well as a period of prayer and personal reflection.
“I have thought about it, prayed about it, fasted, and discussed it with my constituents, and they all agree that I should contest. If the party opens nominations and my big brother, the current National Chairman, decides not to run again, then I am ready to step forward and contest for the position,” he said.
He noted that many within his political circles have urged him to step forward if the position becomes vacant.
