Voting has begun at Nima 1 JHS Centre 2 as residents of Ayawaso East cast their ballots in the parliamentary by-election.
About 49,966 registered voters are expected to participate in the contest, which features Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed of the National Democratic Congress NDC), Baba Ali Yussif of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ibrahim Iddrisu (LPG), David Kanor (Independent), and Umar Sanda Mohammed (Independent).
As of the time GhanaWeb's reporter filed this report, only a handful of voters were at the polling station to cast their vote.
Meanwhile, at St Kizito Catholic Church polling station, Presiding Officer Elizabeth Baffour Awuah, speaking with GhanaWeb, lamented the low turnout of voters.
She said that while over a hundred voters were expected to cast their ballots, only 27 had done so at the time she spoke with GhanaWeb.
