Eugene Boakye Antwi receives blessings of former Presidents Kufuor, Akufo-Addo

Aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eugene Boakye Antwi, has received the blessings and counsel of former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as he steps forward to serve the party.

Boakye Antwi paid separate courtesy calls on the two former Presidents to formally inform them of his decision and to seek their guidance, following encouragement from grassroots members, elders, and party faithful across the country.

Speaking to the media after the engagements, the former Subin Member of Parliament said his decision is driven by a deep sense of duty and a firm belief in the future of the party.

“I have listened to the calls from our grassroots, elders, and loyal members, and I believe this is the time to step forward and serve. I am offering myself with humility and a clear understanding of what the party needs at this moment — unity, discipline, and renewed confidence,” he said.

Boakye Antwi also outlined his five-point UNITE Agenda, which will guide his work as General Secretary.

He explained that his focus will be to Unite the party, Nurture and energize the grassroots, Improve discipline and internal efficiency, Transform engagement and rebuild trust, and Execute a clear strategy to reposition the party for victory in 2028.

“Our party has always been at its best when we are united and focused. My priority is to help restore unity, strengthen our structures, and reconnect with our grassroots. When the base of the party is strong and confident, the future becomes secure,” he said.



Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, in his remarks, expressed confidence in Boakye Antwi’s decision to serve.

“I saw Eugene’s boldness in R.I. Amponsah and Da Rocha. I wish you well in this journey, and I hope the party will emerge more united and ready for power in 2028,” former President Kufuor said.

Boakye Antwi has also received encouragement from former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who welcomed his decision to serve and urged continued focus on strengthening unity and positioning the party for victory.

Widely respected within the party for his calm disposition, discipline, and strong connection to the grassroots, Boakye Antwi is seen by many as someone capable of helping restore cohesion and strengthening the party’s internal structures ahead of the next electoral cycle.

He was accompanied on the visits by several senior party members and members of his campaign team, as part of ongoing consultations with party elders and stakeholders.
