Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against internal divisions, warning that bitterness among key figures surrounding Kennedy Agyapong could undermine the party’s prospects ahead of the 2028 elections.
Speaking on JoyNews on February 2, 2026, Dankwah said polling data suggests that the problem of disunity within the NPP is not coming from the grassroots but from the top levels of the party’s campaign machinery.

“Polling data shows that about 80% of NPP delegates are hopeful there will be unity in the party. That’s the grassroots. The problem is not with them, but at the top level of the campaigns,” he said.
The pollster explained that once aggrieved factions at the leadership level are reconciled, unity at the party base will naturally follow.
“Once we are able to reconcile them, I don’t think there will be a problem at the bottom,” he noted.
Dankwah stressed that key figures who contested or played prominent roles in the party’s internal elections must clearly demonstrate their commitment to party unity, mentioning Kennedy Agyapong and Bryan Acheampong in particular.
“Moving forward, how do you do that? What role does Kennedy Agyapong want to play going forward? What role does Bryan Acheampong want to play in the campaign? They must be seen to place a sense of unity above everything else,” he stated.
He warned that the NPP cannot afford any internal cracks as it prepares to face the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
While expressing hope that both camps within the party would prioritise reconciliation, Dankwah pointed to lingering resentment among some members associated with Kennedy Agyapong’s camp.
“For where NPP is now, they don’t need any division in their ranks to face the NDC going forward. I believe, and I sincerely hope, that both camps would do that. What you sometimes feel is that people around Ken’s team are a lot more bitter,” he shared.

Dankwah’s remarks follow the recently concluded NPP primaries on January 31, which saw delegates elect former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer in a landslide victory.
