The Member of Parliament for Fomena and Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, has expressed optimism that Ghanaians will honour Dr Mahamudu Bawumia if the NPP presents him again as its Presidential Candidate in 2028.
Addressing members of the NPP during the tour of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the Ashanti Region, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, the 2nd Deputy Speaker said Bawumia is the only person Ghanaians expect the NPP to present as its candidate due to his track record and leadership qualities, and, therefore, urged his fellow party members to support the former vice president.
"He is the one Ghanaians have seen his hard work and everything he has gone through, so, let us honour him. Help let us uplift him and Ghanaians will honour him. I believe through his leadership, Ghana will see significant progress.
"He is capable, he is knowledgeable and he is the one Ghanaians expect us to present. So, all of us should help let to uplift him. We have heard and seen so much about him and he has all the attributes," he stated.
While also hailing the humanitarian part of Dr Bawumia, the Fomena MP added that the NPP is "better off" presenting someone "who is so sympathetic to Ghanaians," to Ghanaians like Dr Bawumia.
"So I want to appeal to all of you that, let us come together and support him," he added.
