'You have forgotten Seidu Agongo and his media outlets' – Mugabe Maase blasts Mahama government

Pro–National Democratic Congress (NDC) broadcaster Mugabe Maase has launched a stinging criticism at the Mahama administration, accusing it of sidelining loyal media allies, including those associated with businessman Alhaji Seidu Agongo.

In an impassioned broadcast, Maase expressed frustration that staff from media outlets such as Accra FM and Class FM, owned by Seidu Agongo, have been overlooked for government appointments despite their staunch support for the NDC during its years in opposition.

“You’ve given appointments to over 15 journalists, and Bobie Ansah has been sidelined,” Maase said, referring to the outspoken host of The Citizen Show on Accra FM.

“You’ve forgotten Radio Gold, Accra FM, Ahotor FM, and Class FM,” he added.

Maase, a known NDC sympathiser, painted a picture of betrayal and neglect, alleging that figures who endured difficult conditions to campaign for the party have now been left behind in favour of journalists from mainstream media organizations such as Joy FM, Adom FM, and TV3.

“When you were seeking power, you could call me at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. to travel to Kumasi, Tamale, and Winneba. In Winneba, we had to sleep in the open and got sick as a result. Now, people are already complaining that you’ve changed your phone numbers,” he recalled.

The broadcaster mentioned several names, including Bobie Ansah, Valentina Ofori-Afriyie, Samuel Wutor, Nancy Obimpeh, and Alaska of Ahotor FM, arguing that they all made sacrifices for the NDC and should not have to "queue" for recognition or appointments.

“I don’t need anything from the government. It isn’t now that I want to build a house or acquire land. I’ve already lived my life. But you people, do the right thing,” he urged.

Seidu Agongo, the businessman at the center of the conversation, is widely regarded as one of the quiet financiers of the NDC. However, neither he nor his media houses have received notable recognition since the party’s recent return to power.

The Mahama administration has not officially responded to the accusations.
