NDC Youth Wing Demand Constructive Criticism

Ho, March 22, GNA - The Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congre= ss (NDC) has called on party members to make constructive public criticism o= f its officials when necessary but with decorum.

The group demanded that Ministers, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives and other public officials should be more accessible to the people to demonstrate that politics and governance were about the masses. These were contained in a Communiqu=E9 signed by Mr Ludwig A. Hlodze, National Youth Organizer, at the end of its maiden four-day National Youth Summit held in Ho.

It noted that the surest way to empower the youth to become relevant= to the socio-economic development of the country was through job creation. The statement therefore called for the restructuring of the National=

Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) with skills training being cardinal. It added that laws must be promulgated to give a legal backing the N= YEP to create a sustainable source of funding to eliminate the perennial cank= er of lack of funding. The communiqu=E9 reaffirmed its commitment to the social democratic ideology, while pledging its unalloyed and unflinching support to awarene= ss creation strategies.

It agreed unanimously that the country was being administered by capable hands, which was yielding satisfactory opportunities for Ghanaian= s, in tandem with a "Better Ghana" agenda.

"We however emphasise that communication channels should be streamli= ned and strengthened to tout and espouse the achievements of government", it said. The statement commended the President for blending its appointments with the youth wing and cautioned against arrogance, corruption and other=

tendencies that could wane that trust.
