Asante-Bekwai NPP elects new officers

Bekwai (Ash), Jan 25, GNA - Mr Patrick Adu-Gyamfi, a businessman, has been elected unopposed as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman for Asante-Bekwai. This was at the party's delegates' congress held at the Bekwai Anglican Church.

Other officials elected were Ebenezer Santana Osei-Kwadwo, first Vice Chairman, Owusu Sarkodie, second Vice Chairman, Atta Adusei, Secretary, and Yaw Bio, Assistant Secretary. The rest were Fred Akwasi Nkansah, Organizer, Kwasi Agyapong, Youth Organizer, and Ms Vera Hall, Women's Organizer. The poll was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) and observed by the Member of Parliament) for the area, Mr Joe Osei-Owusu, Madam Elizabeth Agyemang, MP for Oforikrom, and some officials from the party's Regional Secretariat.

Mr Kennedy Kankam, the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, reminded the new Executive that the task of unseating the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in election 2012 would not be easy. He said there was therefore the need for a united front and hard work, adding that, the NPP could not afford to waste time on internal wrangling, turf fight and other distractions. Mr Adu-Gyamfi pledged to ensure that the party's grassroots structures are functional and adequately prepared towards the general election in 2012. He said they would work to broaden the party's support base so as to substantially reduce the votes for their political opponents. He asked the supporters to put the past behind them and rally solidly behind the leadership to grow the party.
