Alhaji Seidu confirmed as Nanumba South DCE

Wulensi (NR), May 3, GNA - Alhaji Amidu Seidu, President's nominee for the post of DCE on Saturday received a 100 per cent approval of the Nanumba South 26 Assembly Members to be confirmed to steer the affairs of the area.

The election was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere and witnessed by Mr. Stephen Sumani Nayina, Northern Regional Minister and some traditional leaders in the Wulensi Traditional Area. Alhaji Seidu expressed gratitude to the Assembly members and gave the assurance that he would work tirelessly to unite the people of Wulensi and that peace and security as well as infrastructure development were his key priority areas. He said he would work closely with all Assembly Members, chiefs and other traditional rulers to see how best they could improve education and peace and address poverty in the district. He appealed for teamwork, consultation and hard work to ensure that the district's development agenda was moved forward for the benefit of all. He decried the poor road network linking Bimbilla and Damako and that proposal would be submitted to Central government to see how best the situation would be addressed.

Mr. Stephen Nayina, Northern Regional Minister advised confirmed DCEs not to lord their positions over the people but should rather be submissive and emulate the humility of President John Evans Atta Mills and Vice President John Mahama. He appealed to them to work harder to push the development of their assemblies forward to justify the confidence Ghanaians reposed in the NDC to ensure that they gave the party a second mandate in 2012.

Mr. John Saadan, was also elected as the Presiding Member (PM) of the Assembly. He polled 25 out of the 26 votes cast with one spoilt ballot representing 96 per cent. In another election conducted last week in Bimbilla in the Nanumba North District, Mr. Mohammed Ibn Abass, was also confirmed as DCE for the area. All 43 Assembly Members voted for Mr. Abass, immediate past Member of Parliament (MPP) for the Bimbilla Constituency to confirm his nomination.
