NPP Re-elects Kofi Adda

Navrongo, May 26, GNA - Mr. Kofi Adda, the Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, was at the weekend re-elected by popular acclamation to contest the parliamentary seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He commended the delegates and promised to work hard for the party to retain the seat in December.

He appealed to Prof John Bonaventure Kaburise and Mr. Abdalai Achuliwor, who were disqualified at the vetting, to join forces with him to enable the party to retain the seat. "We should forget about the past and work together as a family by focusing more seriously on our campaign," Mr Adda said.

Mr. Ahassan Samari, Upper East Regional Minister, appealed to NPP members to remain united and that it was only through unity that the party would retain power.

He said the party had chalked a lot of monumental successes as far development was concerned as compared to other parties who had been in power before.

Mr. Ahmed Tahiru Issahaku, the Regional Chairman of the party, appealed to foot soldiers of the party to do their campaigns devoid of insults and violence.

The Regional Organiser of the party, Mr. Mohamoud Mahama, said although Prof Kaburise had a membership card for two years he was not an active working member of the party and this disqualified him. On Mr. Achuliwor, he said he went as an independent candidate in 2004 and failed to re-apply for re-membership of the party as the constitution demanded.
