Atiwa Polling Station Chairmen urged to endorse Mr Ankamah

Accra, April 10, GNA - A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr Enock Kojo Kwakye, has appealed to delegates of the Atiwa Constituency in the Eastern Region to endorse the candidature of Mr Kwesi Ankamah of the Office of the President to contest the 2008 Parliamentary election. He said the endorsement of Mr Ankamah as parliamentary candidate of the party in the Constituency would not only enable the party to win landslide in Parliamentary slot, but also in the Presidential election in the area.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Accra on Wednesday, Mr Kwakye stated that, Mr Ankamah has the ability, credibility and the leadership skills to transform the Atiwa Constituency and its district capital at Kwabeng if given the nod. He expressed the optimism that Mr Ankamah, if elected MP would bring tremendous developments, in areas such as education, health, road sector, sanitation, water and poverty reduction in the constituency. Mr Kwakye said Mr Ankamah's experience at the Office of President John Agyekum Kufuor for nearly eight years places him in a better position to lobby for projects and programmes for the Constituency.

"Again, Mr Ankamah has travelled across the length and breath of Ghana and several foreign countries, which offers him the chance to make contacts that will promote and transform the lives of the people of Atiwa," he added. Mr Kwakye promised the poling stations chairmen that, the party would do everything possible to improve their welfare and added that even though there had been complaints of neglect by the foot soldiers, the situation was seriously being looked at.
