Suame branch of NPP dismisses allegations against MP

Kumasi, March 19, GNA - The Suame Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday described as false allegations by a group calling itself "Patriotic Citizens of Suame constituency" that the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, was not performing.

A statement signed by Mr. Badu Aduboahen, Constituency Chairman of the party and issued in Kumasi, said it was unfortunate that the group was making these allegations at a time when the MP had proved his commitment to serve his people as was evidenced in the numerous development projects he had initiated in recent times.

It described the allegations by the group as unwarranted since the NPP constitution "does not even recognize such a body."

The statement enumerated some projects and programmes the MP was carrying out as the granting of small scale loan facilities to over 500 people, most of them being women, construction of drains, bridges and roads in the electoral areas from Old Suame to Kronum and his assistance to over 50 brilliant but needy children with an amount of 14,500 Ghana cedis as scholarship.

It lauded the MP particularly for his contribution in constructing a Science Resource Centre for the cluster of schools at New Suame and provision of roofing sheets to schools that were under construction in his constituency.

The statement praised the MP for always being in tune with the constituents and said this had enabled him to know at first hand problems confronting them in order to address them. It advised well meaning supporters of the party in the constituency to be wary of attempts by the so called Patriotic Citizens of Suame constituency to discredit the MP and his hard won reputation and said they should henceforth treat any allegations of that sort with the contempt they deserve.

The statement declared the party members' unflinching support for the MP and urged him to continue to be development oriented to enhance the party's growth.
