CPP to win ten seats in Ashanti

Kumasi, Oct. 31, GNA- The Convention Peoples Party (CPP) says it was vigorously pursuing strategies to win ten out of the 39 parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region. It said two of the targeted seats would be taken from the NDC and 8 from the NPP.

Mr Akwasi Bosompem Boateng, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the CPP who made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi, however, did not name the constituencies targeted, but said from the pieces of information filtering coupled with the failure of the incumbent representatives to deliver, the party was poised to capture the seats.

He said the people especially the youth had now realized that "the CPP remained the only alternative party to the failed NDC and NPP administrations".

Mr Bosompem Boateng said the Regional Steering Committee was putting in place effective mechanism to mobilize adequate resources for the party's organization in the region, adding that, the leadership would soon outline its detailed programmes and policies for the electorates towards the 2008 elections.

He appealed to all contestants who lost in the regional elections not to be discouraged but instead bring their ideas and expertise on board to push the party forward to win the 2008 elections.
