Over hundred Zongo youths joins NASARA club

Over one hundred Zongo youths within Techiman south constituency of Brong Ahafo region have joined the NASARA club, a youth wing in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Club in Techiman South constituency, Mr. Salifu Abubakar at a special ceremony held last night to welcome the new members. According to him the youth has realized the good works of the ruling government hence the decision to support the NASARA club.

He said after serving the citizenry for over six years, president Kufuor administration has really done much to improve the living standard of Ghanaians, particularly the vulnerable who were once living from hand to mouth. Mr. Salifu emphasized that the NASARA club even though a political body, all its activities are aim at helping to improve the lives of Muslim communities, adding that NPP is one of the few governments that has the well being of the down trodden at heart. This constituency chairman explained could be clearly seen in the sharing of the national cake.

He told the new entrants that the government is fully aware of the numerous problems facing the Muslim communities in the country and would not relent in her effort to find amicable solution to them. He continued that, already a number of proactive policies have been put in place to address the major ones. Mr. Salifu warned the Zongo youth to be wide awake and never allow the unscrupulous politicians to use them as stooges of destruction to satisfy their whims and caprices.

Speaking on behalf of the youth, Issah Abdul Karim reiterated that their decision to join the NASARA club could be attributed to the good works of the ruling government and is set to help preach the works of President John Agyekum Kufuor administration. He mentioned the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), capitation grant, NEPAD school feeding programme and the on going physical projects in Techiman Municipality and the Brong Ahafo region as a whole as good example. Mr. Karim commended the government for upgrading some selected senior secondary schools into model ones, explaining that it would go a long way to improve teaching and learning in beneficiary schools.

On his part the Brong Ahafo regional co-ordinator of the NASARA club, Alhaji Ibtrahim Ahmed Abass appealed to the NPP national chairman, Mr. Peter Mac Manu to equip the club ahead of the 2008 presidential and parliamentary elections. He was quoted as saying with the provision of enough logistics the party stand a better chance of breaking new grounds in the Zongo communities in remote areas.

He noted that the growing assertion by some of the party’s gurus that the opposition NDC is a toothless bull dog is never true. ‘However it will sound more reasonable for us to gird our loins with our determination belt. We should bear in mind that the propaganda machine of the biggest opposition party is in full operation ’, he added.

The regional co-ordinaytor said though the club is bent to make significant impact in the forth coming polls in B/A, it should be resourced. He advised that since the efforts of the national secretariat to rekindle the club spirit alone would not be enough other well to – do activists must come in to assist. ‘ with just one vehicle giving to us during the just ended by-election in Nkoranza north constituency we were able to convince our people to exercise their franchise for NPP, this means we could do more if at least one vehicle is giving to each constituency in the region before 2008 general elections’, he suggested.
