I will ensure socio-economic development of La - Sowah

Accra, July 18, GNA - Dr Francis N A Sowah vying to contest the La Dedekotopon seat under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has promised to ensure the socio-economic development of the area if he got the nod to represent the people.

Addressing delegates of the Kaadjarno Electoral Area of the party at La, the aspiring MP said he had identified sectors he would develop to create jobs for the unemployed youth in the constituency. Dr Sowah pointed out that farming and fishing, which were the economic mainstay of the areas economy were no longer vibrant due to a number of factors and said the time had come to resuscitate agriculture to "revitalise the two sectors".

He said that, "We must think of infrastructure facilities such as a wharf, refrigeration, storage and micro-finance for fishermen and women to purchase capital equipment and related services for marine fishing and the development of facilities for fish farming from Kaadjarno to the Kpeshie Lagoon, which are conducive for such activities.

"To ensure that fish farming is successful in the area, I will facilitate the training of the youth who are interested with the Ministry of Fisheries and look for start-up capital for them to overcome the problem of beginners in ventures", he said.

Dr Sowah who is a lawyer and a royal said he would link up with some friends in the United States who were experts in job creation to develop a module to employ the youth and for the development of the area to alleviate poverty.

Mr Michael Mensah, Campaign Co-ordinator, said the constituency would be divided into four zones for administrative and development purposes.

He appealed to the delegates to assess all the contestants and vote for the one with a vision, external connections and would perform above board to unite the party and the people.
