Akuffo Addo campaign team tours Sunyani

Abesim (B/A), July 12, GNA - Mr Mustapha Hamid, spokesman for the Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo's presidential campaign, has said the destiny of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would be determined by the personality elected as its flag-bearer in the 2008 general election. He said the prevailing circumstances within the country's political arena demanded a personality with "a universal character" like Nana Akufo-Addo, who is decisive in character and a diplomat as well.

Addressing the Sunyani East, West and Tano North, South constituency executives in Sunyani on Tuesday, Mr Hamid stated that Nana Akufo-Addo, had exhibited immense commitment to the NPP since its birth. The campaign team had earlier toured 18 constituencies in Brong Ahafo.

Mr Hamid explained that the meeting with the executives was a follow-up to Nana Akufo-Addo's outreach programme "in drumming home his message as a presidential candidate and to thank them for the warm reception accorded him".

The spokesman said nobody could predict what the opposition could use to win power in the next elections and that the party needed a leader who would rub shoulders with the opposition to retain the NPP in power.

He advised the executives to eschew pettiness and biases and to support Nana Akufo-Addo to lead the nation.

"You should take the 2007 delegates congress as a life and death matter, because the leader you will choose will prove what the party's fate will be in the future," he reiterated.
