NPP aspiring Parliamentary candidate denies withdrawal

Koforidua, June 28, GNA- The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for the Krachi West Constituency, Mr. Richard Amofa has denied rumours that he has withdrawn from contesting the primaries.

Reacting to a Ghana News Agency (GNA) report carried in the Saturday edition of the Ghanaian Times, under the heading "10 DCEs vie for NPP candidature in Volta region" at Koforidua, Mr Amofa said the publication which only mentioned two of the other aspirants as contestants was only a mistake and not a withdrawal from the race. He therefore called on the Volta Regional Chairman of the NPP to as a matter of urgency rectify that mistake since it had caused him a great deal in his pursuit for the parliamentary seat.

Mr Amofa who is the Eastern Regional Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme wondered why the regional secretary in submitting the report to the press omitted his name because he was the first to submit his forms to the constituency office of the party. He complained that since the publication of that story, most of his supporters and admirers had called him to find out why he had pulled out of the competition which he described as a negative trend as far as his chances of winning was concerned.

Mr Amofa therefore assured his supporters that they should not be disappointed by the omission in the publication because he was still in the race and had not planned to pull out since he was optimistic of winning the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the coming elections.
