Assemblyman for Mamfam in Apam thanks electorate

Apam (C/R), Nov 16, GNA - Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, the Assemblyman for Mamfam Electoral Area in Apam, has expressed his gratitude to the electorate for voting him into office, saying it shows the confidence they have in him.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah, an accountant at the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), assured the electorate that he would not disappoint them and called for their co-operation to develop the area.

Outlining his programme for the area to the Ghana News Agency at Apam, Mr Aidoo-Mensah said he had sanitation as his priority. The Assemblyman said the two toilets serving the area were inadequate, no proper place for waste disposal and assured that he would lobby the Apam Traditional Council and the assembly to create a suitable place for waste disposal.

"As much as possible I will ensure that 'free range' disposal of both liquid and solid waste is discouraged in my area," and that clean-up exercises would be a regular feature. Mr Aidoo-Mensah said he intended to construct a community centre where the people could meet and deliberate on development issues and also to house the office of the Unit Committee. The Assemblyman said he would liase with his counterpart at Nsuekyir Electoral Area to press for the rehabilitation of the road that leads from the hospital to Abora.

He said an Education Endowment Fund to support the needy children would be set up and that fund raising activities were being planned to support the fund.
