Ahafo Ano South fails to elect a presiding member

Mankranso(Ash) Nov 4 GNA - After a successful inauguration and swearing-in of members of the Ahafo-Ano South district Assembly, the election of a presiding member ended in a stalemate compelling the Assembly to re-convene in two weeks for fresh voting.

Both Nicholas Owusu Afriyie of Hwibaa and Matthew Forgor of Mankranso, contestants for the presiding Member position could not obtain the two-third majority vote required to win the election after two rounds of voting.
